Boston, MA, August 16 – The National Parents Union Action Fund is excited by the historic commitments to families and hard working Americans outlined in the Harris-Walz Economic Agenda released today. Vice President Kamala Harris's bold vision for supporting the hard working American families demonstrates her deep understanding of the economic struggles that too many parents across the nation are feeling and a strategy to address these challenges head on.
In particular, we are inspired by the introduction of a new, expanded Child Tax Credit, that includes a new one time $6,000 credit for new parents, while also restoring the $3,600 Child Tax Credit for lower-income and middle-class families - a move that would result in the largest reduction of child poverty in our country’s history.
The Harris-Walz plan's commitment to reducing the cost of living for American families coupled with addressing the housing crisis by providing $25,000 in down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers, lowering the cost of prescription drugs to ensure that no American pays more than $35 for life-saving insulin, demonstrates a deep understanding of the everyday struggles that millions of families endure. These efforts would not only ease the significant financial pressures we face but also lay the foundation for long-term economic stability, economic mobility and growth into the future.
The National Parents Union Action Fund is proud to stand with leaders who prioritize the well-being of families. We look forward to working alongside the Harris-Walz administration to ensure that these transformative policies, in what could be called one of the strongest economic policy platforms in modern history, are implemented, creating a brighter and more equitable future for all.
